Husband-to-Be Wants Everyone at Their Wedding Ceremony to Know His Fiancée Is Not ‘Pure’

In November 2022, a Reddit user anonymously shared her story on the “Off My Chest” forum. She disclosed that she had been with her fiancé for six years and engaged for eight months. Although she mainly handled the wedding planning, her fiancé, known as Ryan, sometimes gave his input.

Last month, in October, Ryan shocked OP by making an unexpected request. He told her that he had been talking about wedding plans with his colleagues and advised her not to wear a white dress.
The original poster was confused by Ryan’s suggestion, but she decided to ignore it for now because she thought it was just his artistic side speaking. At first, she thought it could be about how the wedding photos would look or some other creative aspect.

In the aftermath of the argument, she couldn’t help but be “disgusted” by his actions, causing her to seriously reconsider their future together.

However, OP persisted in her wish to wear white and made it clear to him. Ryan’s response appeared to be a combination of irritation, but he eventually decided to let it go.
What Happened after the Woman Bought a White Wedding Dress?
The woman bought her wedding dress two weeks before the big day, causing tension with her fiancé who wanted to see it. She refused, wanting to keep it a surprise.

He continued to ask about the color of the dress, and when she said it was white, he reacted strongly. She was confused by his insistence on a white wedding dress, as it was a common choice. She was surprised when he revealed that he believed brides should only wear white if they were “pure.”
Providing background information, their relationship started when OP was 21 and her fiancé was 20. He was inexperienced in relationships, while she had a previous long-term boyfriend from high school. Despite some initial doubts, they managed to overcome them until a certain point.

Ryan tried to convince the woman to agree with him by asking his mother for help, but she ended up supporting her instead. They all argued passionately in the living room about the meaning behind her dress.

Version 1: Ryan’s mother even mentioned that he was no longer inexperienced, and advised him to wear red. This argument made Ryan cry, but he still firmly believed that if his mother wore white, it would mislead their wedding guests. He insisted that there were different expectations for men.

What Did the Woman Decide?
The subsequent turn of events shook OP’s faith in the idea of marrying Ryan. In the aftermath of the argument, she couldn’t help but be “disgusted” by his actions, causing her to seriously reconsider their future together.

She was puzzled by the fact that Ryan, who wasn’t very religious, was obsessed with her past, particularly her loss of virginity at 18, before they even knew each other. This discovery burdened her, causing her to express her frustrations openly, hoping for empathy from anyone who would lend an ear.

In a recent post on the “Dating Advice” forum from November 24, 2022, the original poster (OP) encountered a completely new situation. After ending her engagement in her late twenties, she went on her first date in six years.

She hadn’t been on a date in years, but she was going to a nice seafood restaurant by the water in North Carolina in November. She wasn’t sure what to wear, but some people said she should wear red.
Do you agree with OP’s decision to break off her engagement after reading this story, or would you have made a different choice? Check out another story about a man who insisted on having his fiancée’s virginity confirmed by his father in front of their family.
